RE: Propane on or off?

But why do it? Never mind the arguments pro/con safety (there is a risk in leaving it on - even if low). We never travel with propane on and never have lost even an ice cube! This covers 18 years and over 500 travel days in all seasons, including many 90+ temps. Why waste that resource?

RE: 2500 HD Towing 12,000 lbs

There is ONLY one way to be sure. Do NOT go by the manufacturer numbers. see RVSafety.org on weihing RVs. Now for your question - the rig in my sig (01 2500HD, gas, 6.0 l with 4.10 rear end), while in the middle of an 8 week trip, and full load of fuel, tools, DW and me, weighed (at a rally by RVsafety folks), on separate scales for all 4 wheels, weighed 6200 pounds (and yes - hitch included. Its GVWR is 9200. Trailer, again fully loaded for an extended RV travel weighed 10225 (GVWR 11865 you said yours is rated at 12,000)), basically equal on both axles and balanced l.to r. Actual pin weight was 2275. Adding pin weight to truck weight - total truck weighed 8475. All within specs. But - we have learned, over 18 years of towing just what we need to carry with us. The truck now has over 125,000 miles and still pulling strong. Hope this helps.

RE: colorado campgrounds

State Parks such as Mueller and Cheyenne Mountain near Colorado Springs are nice and offer half price rates Sunday through Thursday. Most of the private campgrounds offer Good Sam or AAA discounts. You probably need to make reservations at most places during the summer months.. Unless you have an Aspen leaf Pass you also pay a park entrance fee each day you stay in a CO State Park. This discount is only good for Colorado residents over 65 who pre-purcahse an annual pass (Aspen Leaf). Several private cg's honor vrious discounts, as mentioned above including Passport America. Where in CO do you want to visit? John

RE: Saguaros in bloom

Saguaros normally do not bloom until late April or May. Saguaro NP is a good place to see them but once the bloom starts any where in the Sonoran Desert area will have them. John

RE: Satellite wiring is suspect

First, when using your sat. receiver make sure the Booster (little light) is turned OFF. Then look for other solutions if the problem is still there.

RE: Best Route Nashville, TN to Vancouver, BC

Paulj's suggestion is OK except that I 70 does NOT connect to I 84. I 70 ends at I 15 in south-central Utah. Then go north on i 15 to north os Salt lake City to I 84 and on as suggested. Then try the AK/Canada forum from Vancouver east. John

RE: 6 Degrees of Separation... Everthing is Connected...

If you post pix on any public site, very often they can be pirated by anyone with a right click button on their mouse! If you don't want people to copy them - don't post them. John

RE: Campground in Moab for Big Rig

Portal cg, at north end of Moab has plenty of room for big rigs.

RE: Summer storage

Many folks do that here in our Rv park in Mesa. Yes - drain all tanks and low point drains. Disconnect batteries and put them inside. I would put insulating material - reflective 'bubble' type in all windows. I also, since my manufacturer says - do NOT put a cover on it. A pin lock is also advised to prevent it from 'walking away'.

RE: Getting work with an out of state drivers license

Well many states, including your own AZ, require that anyone working/ earning their living have local vehicle registartion/drivers license so be very careful. Employers may/may not worry about it.

RE: What Criteria is used for closing a topic?

Don't know what Frank might say but - in General RVing there is a sticky for fuelquestions. Click on that title and you see a message from Admin (overseer of ALL forums) that all fuel discussion in other forums will be automatically deleted. Just one of the FORUM rules that we all should follow.

RE: How soon we can leave for alaska?

CG opening could be your main issue. As Joeb said anytime is good but... My personal opinion is to be there toward end of June (solstice-time). We use Trailer Life Directory - especially to check cg open dates.

RE: Boise, ID -- Creston, BC

Hi Lauren. Nothing on 55 in Idaho to concern you. More interesting than going over to 95 on I84. Then I would stay on 95 to north of Bonners Ferry - to the junction just before the border and take the keft fork (The Road Less Travelled!!) right into Creston. Your getting close to home territory for both of us. Where to from there? Have a great new Year, John

RE: Bryce Canyon, Arches, Zion & Mesa Verde - When?

Early June would be better. July might be getting pretty warm but still that part of the world is worth seeing anytime! Don't miss Capitol Reef in your travels around the 4 corner country! PM me for suggestions on route. JOHN

RE: How is I 35 from Des Moines to Kansas City - ICE??

"The State of IA, shows this information on their website about road conditions " In two responses this is the only statement that comes close to answering the Op! Supercharge - you are guilty as charged! If you can't give some kind of answer to a query - why spout off??

RE: When is "Spring Break"?

Only by knowing your planned destination can this really be answered but as already said - it happens somewhere from late Feb. through March - or Easter long weekend.
